For Family & Friends: Deep Snow 2002-2003

The winter of 2002-2003 was the coldest and most snow-rich we have experienced in Fredrikstad since we moved here in 1999. With outdoor temperatures dropping well below minus 20 Celsius, there were over 40 degrees difference between indoors and outdoors.

Lene, Daniel and Philip had to shovel enormous amounts of snow, not to mention stack huge piles of firewood.

To match the extreme climate, electricity prices went through the roof after a dry summer and the power companies tapping the dams to sell more internationally during the autumn.

We were very happy to have enough firewood, not least Perrin, who discovered that small dogs are not built for deep snow.
